Culture, Language and Dress

The language spoken in the Maldives is Dhivehi, and their script runs from right to left. However, English is widely spoken, and especially used in business. The islands are Islamic and as such tourists are asked to wear clothes that cover the thighs and upper body, unless they are in a resort where they can wear swimwear.
